Christmas in February? Are you serious, Clark?
Yes sir. It’s looking a lot like ‘Christmas Vacation’ in the Special Attractions section of the
38th Annual Atlanta International Auto Show, and if you’re a movie buff, then the curious
looking RV parked in it should stand out like, well, an irritating cousin in a bath robe on your
sidewalk, smoking a cigar, drinking a beer, and emptying raw sewage into the storm drain.
That cousin’s name, of course, would be Eddie.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation was
destined to become a classic comedy from
the start. The third in the series of ‘Vacation’
films, it’s often regarded as the most hilarious,
and has become a viewing tradition for many
around the holidays. And while a good
portion of the hilarity centers around Chevy
Chase’s bumbling character, Clark Griswold,
there’s no doubting Cousin Eddie’s (played
by Randy Quaid) contribution to the side-
splitting humor, once he and his family
arrive on the scene. And they arrive in,
um, style. Yeah. That’s it. That ‘style’ is
the Condor RV – a lumbering hulk of
soiled machinery that screams…well…
it screams Cousin Eddie.
