As we go through life, we experience a great many things. And as human beings, we like to reminisce about
life experiences. Things like your first concert, first kiss, first break-up, first job, and so on. Those memories stack
up, and every now and then we pull them out of storage to share with others. And the aforementioned list just
wouldn’t be complete without including one’s first car. It’s such an important part of our transition from childhood
to adulthood. It opens the door to a level of independence we all crave.

Some people inherit their first car from parents or other family members. Some manage to save up the money to
buy that first set of wheels on their own, working wherever and whenever possible to make it happen. Regardless
of the means used to acquire them, our first cars instill a sense of pride and accomplishment, and that’s important.
By J.W. Southwick Do you remember your first car? What make and model was it? What color was it? What did you like most about
Director of Marketing it? These are a few of the questions that we decided to ask some of Atlanta’s radio and television personalities.
& Social Media We listen to and see them as part of our daily lives, so we thought it’d be interesting to take a drive down memory

My first car was a little black Plymouth Laser – I think it
was a 1990, but I can’t quite remember the year. It was
given to me the summer before my senior year of high school
as a graduation present -- my aunt and uncle were upgrading
to a new car, so they gave me their old one. I drove it
during my entire senior year of high school and then, just a

transmission went out. So…bye, bye Laser. WHAT DID YOU LIKE LEAST ABOUT IT?

I just loved having my own car, period. Especially during
my senior year in Daytona Beach. Daytona is famous for ANY SPECIAL MEMORIES ABOUT IT?
allowing cars to drive on the beach, so I loved taking my I vividly remember driving the car to the photography studio
little Laser on the sand. I was also a swimmer in high school handling my school’s senior portraits. It was a blazing hot
and the pool in which we practiced was off-campus, so my day and, again, my car had no air conditioning. So, I brought
fellow swimmers used to cram into the backseat and I’d give a bunch of towels with me to sponge the sweat off of my
