FIRST CAR?
My Dad gifted me a baby-blue 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air,
which we named “Baby Blue.”
WHAT DID YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT IT?
I LOVED that it was an antique.
WHAT DID YOU LIKE LEAST ABOUT IT?
I strongly disliked the fact that it didn’t run.
ANY SPECIAL MEMORIES ABOUT IT?
I would spend many weekends washing and playing in it.
Also did my homework on the hood. After almost 30 years
of sitting, I finally put it in the shop for restoration. Baby
Blue is alive!

negotiated the price down to $2,400. Everybody wins! It had over 200,000 miles when it finally died. Smoke started coming out

FIRST CAR?
My first car was a 1969 Chevy Nova. There was NO color. It was primer gray, had no
floorboards, and was named the ‘Urban Assault Vehicle.’
WHAT DID YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT IT?
It was a steel tank, even for a small car, and as long as I changed the oil, it ran alright.
WHAT DID YOU LIKE LEAST ABOUT IT?
It wasn’t exactly a girl-magnet for a kid in high school. Oh, and did I mention it had no
floorboards? Seriously…you could really see the road going by under your feet.
ANY SPECIAL MEMORIES ABOUT IT?
I paid $150 for it. Cash. My own money. I put a speaker in the back seat from the house
to listen to the radio. It was a solid car until I decided to run over what I thought was a
collection of bagged leaves. Little did I know that they were surrounding a fire hydrant.
Goodbye front end…goodbye Urban Assault Vehicle.
